Ofisa was established in 1955 from the merger of the main Florentine funeral companies, about ten in number, at the suggestion of Mayors Fabiani and La Pira, who represented so much of Florence's post-war history.

A Florentine group, Pompe Funebri Firenze Ofisa has from the outset woven privileged relations with the world of voluntary work and social assistance, which is particularly and historically rooted in Tuscany. Today, the Ofisa group is considered among Tuscany's first and most important private benefactors.
